An old boat gets a new lease on life with the welcomed addition of a custom-built carbon fibre rig. Applied composites lovingly and painstakingly brought the old hull into the modern age with some high tech. engineering and a touch of grit.
A racing yacht which Applied Composite Technologies worked on back in 2003, Lunchcutter a Mount Gay 30 class yacht, required restoration work due to wear and tear caused by 17 years of racing and tropical sun exposure. Lunchcutter was originally rigged by Applied Composite Technologies 17 years ago and the carbon mast required restoration work.
On Boxing Day 2019, a new AC34 was launched at Sandringham Yacht Club yard in Victoria - the latest addition to Tony Cuschieri’s fleet of boats based in Brighton Yacht Club.
Melbourne Yacht Rigging has completed work on a Beneteau First 47.7 lying at RMYS in St. Kilda, Victoria. The rod rigging on the boat was due for replacement and there were other rig components to be checked and serviced.
